Prologue to the Gospel

See Luke 1:1-4.  When Jesus ascended he didn't hand the apostles and book and say : "Follow this until I get back".  At first his Good News was passed along orally.  Luke decides to write it down.

Verse 1

For thirty years or more, we’ve passed the Good News around

And now dear brother it’s time that one of us wrote it all down

I’ve listened to the ones with Jesus,

who heard almost every word he said

The ones who saw the miracles,

the ones who were there for the breaking of the bread

    Verse 2

Come Holy Spirit, bless my memory

Bring back all that matters, help this be what you want it to be

The holy Word of God, a clear and perfect picture of the Son

Truth for the ages, in all that is written, may your will be done

Bridge:      Jesus left behind a band of believers

Apostles and disciples of His Word

Who preached and taught it to others

The most marvelous message you’ve ever heard

For thirty years or more, we’ve passed the Good News around

And now my brother the time has come to write it all down….
