Charlie Came Alive

Verse 1
His chin was on his chest when they wheeled him into the parlor.
No light in his eyes, life was getting harder.
But both legs began moving side to side to the beat, he was ready to revive
At the Senior Citizen Sing Along, Charlie came alive

Chorus
Charlie came alive when he heard Your Cheatin Heart
And Amazing Grace put the light back in his eyes
The only way to explain the sudden change
Was that the music touched him deep inside
At the Senior Citizen Sing Along, Charlie came alive

Verse 2
The next Tuesday afternoon he was waiting for the music to begin.
Wore a Braves ball cap with the brim turned backwards……..and a grin
He sang every word of Hey Good Looking, he wept when we played Patsy Cline
At the Senior Citizen Sing Along, Charlie came alive

Bridge:
Nothing’s better than music to bring back memories
Of good times, good friends and family

Verse 3:
A few weeks later, he moved back to his favorite daughter’s home
There she plays the songs that take him where he wants to go
The music brought him back and I hear he still thrives
Thanks to the Senior Citizen Sing Along where Charlie came alive

Chorus
Charlie came alive when he heard Your Cheatin Heart
And Amazing Grace put the light back in his eyes
The only way to explain the sudden change
Was that the music touched him deep inside
At the Senior Citizen Sing Along, Charlie came alive

Welcome back Charlie, it’s good to have you home
